PASTE AS A FOOD GROUP?

Ever make a piñata when you were a kid? Dip newspaper into a flour-and-water paste, spread it over a balloon, let it to dry into a hard shell, paint it, and voila! Piñata! Good times.

In my youth and naivety, I never got that I actually ate part of that piñata every day … yes, the paste – white flour and water!

How many pasty refined-flour foods do you eat every day? Bread? Noodles? Cereal? Bagel? Muffin? Pasta? Crackers? White rice? Cornbread? Pot pie crust? Pop Tart? Just envision spooning pasty, gloppy glue into your mouth, because that’s the reality.

Constipated? Low energy? Undernourished? No wonder!

Replace them all with whole grains. And DON’T be fooled by marketing double-talk. “Made with whole grains.” “multi-grain,” and “stone ground” are NOT whole. The label must say 100% WHOLE. Also organic only, please, to get rid of pesticides and genetically modified grains.

I feel better already!
